One week after its first win over an NAIA Top 10 team, the Fire football team will look to continue that momentum into its annual Homecoming contest tonight against Warner.

Southeastern was able to rally from a 14-point deficit at the end of the first quarter to come away with a 20-17 win at No. 6 Keiser for the program's first win at KU and to keep hopes alive for a Mid-South Sun Division title.

An interception by Joseph Bonga helped shift the momentum the way of the visiting team last Saturday in West Palm Beach along with a career day from Marc Viechec which included a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss. On offense, Lorine Parker had a career-best 30 carries for 177 yards to help keep drives alive. Quarterback Cooper Jones found a diving Wendell Harris Jr. on an 11-yard touchdown pass with 2:06 to play for the game-winning score.

Southeastern is looking to improve to 8-0 on Homecoming tonight and 7-0 all-time against Warner. The first win in the history of the SEU program came against the Royals in front of 3,500 fans on September 13, 2014 by the score of 31-7. Without question, the most memorable of the previous six meetings was on September 24, 2016 in a game that was delayed nearly three hours due to lightning and saw the Fire rally from 10 points down to win in triple overtime 52-44 thanks to an interception by Tyson Kee in the end zone just shy of 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Royals come in with a 3-4 overall record and are 1-1 under Michael Piasecki, who took over on October 4th. Warner opened the season with NCAA Division I FCS Stetson, then traveled to No. 8 Reinhardt before coming away with back-to-back wins against Kentucky Christian and at Union. Most recently, the Royals dropped a 51-36 game to Bluefield, taking a 21-20 lead to halftime after trailing 13-0 after 9:57. The Rams got four 20+ yard touchdown passes in the second half to come away with the win.

Senior quarterback Michael Young has passed for nearly 1,500 yards and has 14 touchdowns while completing 51% of his passes. Against Bluefield, Young was 22-of-46 for 314 yards and three touchdowns. Trevon Jackson has been his favorite receiver with a team-high 29 catches for 410 yards and three scores.

On defense, linebackers Ashton Mincey and Jonathan Jones have led the way with Mincey posting a team-best 56 tackles with 4.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a pair of interceptions. Jones has added 39 stops with eight behind the line of scrimmage and has forced a fumble.
