Men's Soccer Takes on Seahawks and Gyrenes in a Two Sun Conference Match Week

LAKELAND, Fla.- The 8-3-3 Southeastern University men's soccer team will look to a Sun Conference heavy week as they take on No. 4 Keiser University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Lakeland, Fla. followed by an away matchup against the Ave Maria University Gyrenes on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
The Seahawks come into Wednesday's match on a three game win streak and a record of 9-1 and average 3.1 goals per game. The unit has managed to put up a .502 shot on goal percentage and average 21.9 shots per game as Alvaro Valer leading the team in shots on goal with 23. Luca Malvicini leads the Seahawks team in goals with six and Lucas Jacobs has registered five assists through 10 games. Defensively, Felipe Godoy has allowed only five goals through eight games and has come up with 23 saves for a save percentage of .821. November of 2020 saw the most recent face-off between these two teams as the Seahawks came away with the 1-0 win on the Fire's home pitch to advance their all-time record to 5-4-1 over the Fire.
 
The Fire will then hit the road on Saturday to compete against the Gyrenes who currently hold a record of 4-8 and 2-4 in TSC as they look to bounce back from a 6-1 loss to Warner University in their last competition. As a team, the Gyrenes have netted 20 goals through 12 games for an average of 1.67 goals per game with over half of their shots being on goal. Nikola Vinski and Josh Gaeng have accounted for over half of the Gyrene's goals with Vinski recording six and Gaeng registering five of his own. Rhys Lawlor has played all 12 games in goal and has made 63 saves on 93 shots faced. The Fire go into Saturday's matchup with a 16-2 all-time record over the Gyrenes including a 3-0 victory in the last meeting in the 2020 season.
 
Southeastern is coming off of a 2-1 TSC victory over the SCAD Bees which advanced their conference record to 2-2-1. As a team, the Fire have outscored their opponents 36-24 and average 2.57 goals per game and a .574 shot on goal percentage. Julian Hall is the current leading scorer for the Fire with 9 goals and two assists through 12 games. Freshman Eduardo Venutolo has also been a part of 10 goals for the Fire with six goals and a team high four assists.
