MARIETTA, Ga.—The Southeastern University wrestling program is set for another tilt against a top NAIA opponent when they travel to take on Life University on Saturday January 16
th at 1:00 pm.
The fifth-ranked Fire take on the second-ranked Running Eagles who carry a 4-0 record into this weekend's dual meet and have yet to allow a point to opposing programs in a dual.
SEU is looking for their first win against a ranked program this season as they are 0-3 when facing opponents in the top 20 of the NAIA but, have only lost those duals by a total of eleven points.
Life's lineup features several wrestlers ranked in the top 20 of the NAIA in their weight classes. Randy McCray Jr. is top ranked wrestler for the Running Eagles, ranking second in the 125-pound weight class. Sid Ohl is the third ranked wrestler in the 165-pound weight class and Life also boasts two wrestlers in the top five of the 197-pound weight class with Zane Lanham and Diallo Matsimella ranked fourth and fifth.
In total, Life's lineup for Saturday features nine wrestlers ranked in the Top 20.
Last time out for the Fire saw them drop a close dual at Cumberland.
Xavier Williamson and
Jaquan English picked up wins in their respective weight classes as Williamson recorded a pin in 25 seconds and English won by a 6-0 decision.
Southeastern is led by
Isaac Crowell who has nine wins and is ranked fifth in the 125-pound weight class.
The Fire are looking for their first win against Life after dropping their previous five meetings. SEU was a point away in their last dual with Life as they lost 16-15. Five wrestlers in the projected lineup for the Fire wrestled in last year's matchup and posted a 3-2 record.
