Men's Soccer Ready for Two More Conference Contests

9/22/2020 8:00:00 AM

LAKELAND, Fla.—After a pair of wins a week ago, the Southeastern University men's soccer team is set to take on two more Sun Conference opponents this week. The Fire travel to West Palm Beach, Florida to take on the Keiser Seahawks on Wednesday at 11:00 am before returning home for a matchup against the Warner Royals on Saturday at 7:30 pm.

Southeastern defeated Webber International 4-1 in the first win last week with two first-half goals from Julian Hall propelling the Fire to victory. Noah Richmond and Aitor Granero added goals of their own to top the Warriors. The Fire defense held the Warrior offense in check throughout the night as they only allowed Webber to get off eight shots, with Carlos Curado recording one save.

The Fire shared the wealth once again when they took down Pensacola Christian 5-0 as four different players netted a goal. Hall scored his third goal of the week and was joined by Paulos Beraki, Evandro Henrique, and Bruno Conceicao.

Southeastern (3-0, 1-0 TSC) heads into this week ranked sixth in the NAIA in total goals with eleven, and tenth with eight total assists. Individually, Curado is seventh with 0.4 goals against per game, and Hall is tenth with three goals so far this season.

Keiser hosts the Fire with a 2-0 record after notching wins over Trinity Baptist College and Warner University. Junior Ciro Damine leads the Seahawks with six goals while junior goalkeeper Felipe Godoy has registered three saves on the year. The last time these two teams met was in the conference tournament semifinals as Keiser advanced on penalty kick's 5-4. Hall tallied two goals on three shots in that match.

The Fire then host a Warner Royals squad who is still searching for their first win at 0-2. Warner returns their leader in assists from a season ago, Nick Diaz. The Fire have won two straight against the Royals and hold the edge in the all-time series 8-4-1. Southeastern won the most recent matchup between these two teams 2-1 with Julian Hall recording both a goal and an assist.
