BOWLING GREEN, Ky.—Southeastern University junior quarterback
Cooper Jones was selected as the Mid-South Sun Division's Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a 34-0 win over Ave Maria Saturday night.
The San Clemente, Calif. native broke his own school record with 356 passing yards and matched his school-record of five touchdown passes. Jones was 20-of-27 during his sixth game with 300+ yards in 13 career starts.
Jones connected with six different receivers with
Eugene Witherspoon leading the way with nine catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He had three completions of over 40 yards on the night, each to a different receiver.
His passing total was the fourth most in the NAIA during the opening weekend of play, as was his efficiency of 245.9.
The Fire head to St. Thomas on Saturday for a noon start.
