Box Score COLUMBUS, Ga.—A two-out rally came up just short in Southeastern's final game at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Trailing 3-1, the Fire got a two-out double from
Sam Holcomb, then was brought home on an RBI single by
Hannah Bonner.
Bailee Moll then singled to left, but was left at first on a pop out to third base to end the game.
Southeastern (8-7) got on the board first with a sacrifice fly by
Peyton Varela to score Holcomb.
Lawrence Tech answered in the top of the second with two runs, sending eight to the plate to take the lead. The Blue Devils (5-6) added another in the fifth.
Bonner finished 2-for-4 to lead the offense.
The Fire will be back in action on Monday against Calumet College at 1 p.m. at home.
