FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.—The Southeastern University wrestling team scored its program-record 16
th and 17
th dual victories of the year, doing so in impressive fashion against NCAA Division II squads Mount Olive and Emmanuel.
The Fire blanked Mount Olive, 47-0, then defeated Emmanuel 30-9.
Against Mount Olive, SEU recorded four technical falls, starting with
Xavier Williamson in the second period of the first match,
Dylan Chatterton just before the first period ran out at 157,
Alton Meeks in the first period at 285, and
Olson Delisca at 133 in the final bout of the match right as time expired.
In the Emmanuel match,
Jaquan English won in sudden victory at 149 and was followed by
Claudest Sherman's 6-1 decision at 157 to put the Fire up 12-0.
The Fire closed the match strong, getting a major decision from Meeks, a decision from Isasc Crowell at 125, and another tech fall by Williamson to close the bout.
Southeastern will be back in action at the Mid-South Conference Championship on February 21
st, which also serves as the NAIA National Qualifier.
