The No. 1 ranked Southeastern University women's basketball continued to fuel the fire against Johnson & Wales University, as they have stretched their winning streak to 24 games. On Friday night, Southeastern was victorious over Johnson & Wales in a 99-51 win.

During the first quarter, the Fire jumped out of the gates with 23 points and held the Wildcats to just 10 with their impressive defense. The Fire were in control as the Wildcats shot 4-of-20 (20%) in the quarter with only one shot from behind the arc.

The second quarter was no different, as the Fire proceeded to widen the margin against the Wildcats with
Taylah Simmons going 5-of-9 in the quarter. Simmons led the Fire in the second quarter, as she contributed almost all of the field goals in the quarter made by Southeastern.

The Fire went 9-of-18 in the quarter, shooting at 50%, with 3-of-7 from behind the 3-point range.

Within the first two quarters of play, the Fire shot 49%, and were 86% at the free-throw line. By the end of the first half, Southeastern blew past Johnson & Wales, 50-21, heading into the second half of play.

Returning from intermission, Southeastern kept applying pressure against Johnson & Wales, as the Wildcats struggled from the field, shooting 31% in the third quarter. Simmons and Raegan Linster were the leading scorers in the quarter as they shot a combined 9-of-16 (56%), with Linster being 50% from behind the arc. These two offensive forces helped Southeastern take a 28-19 advantage in the third quarter, with
Eliza West contributing five assists heading into the fourth quarter.

Overall, Southeastern finished the game dominating Johnson & Wales, as they shot 45%, with the largest lead of the night at 48 points with 40 seconds left in the fourth. The Fire took advantage of their opportunities as they scored 22 second chance points and 46 points in the paint.

Simmons, had an impressive day, scoring 31 points. Other players with double-digit nights were: Linster (21),
Marlena Schmidt (12), and West (10). West led the team with eight assists on the night, and Linster had five threes in Southeastern's winning efforts.
