Softball Releases 2021 Schedule

Lakeland, Fla.- After a 2020 season that was cut short after only 23 games, the Southeastern University softball team will look forward to a busy 54 game 2021 schedule.

The Fire will open up their 2021 season with seven home double headers in the month of February which includes matchups with three top ranked NAIA programs in the University of Mobile, Campbellsville University, and William Carey University. The Fire will take on previously ranked No. 13 Campbellsville on February 12th  and will then face off against previously ranked No. seven University of Mobile on February 15th. The Rams of the University of Mobile and the Fire last met during the 2020 season where the Fire held their own against the top ten ranked program but were unable to walk away with the upset after dropping the matchup by a score of 2-1. The Fire will then move on to their third ranked opponent in a week in William Carey as they face the No. 18 ranked program on February 18th.

Southeastern also has at least 22 games slated in the month of March including a three day trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama to compete in the Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament. The 2019 season saw the Fire compete in the GCI where they went 2-4 on the weekend taking home victories over Avila University as well as a 3-2 victory over then ranked No. 19 Faulkner University. The Fire also traveled to Gulf Shores during their 2017 season where they went 2-2 with wins over University of Houston-Victoria and Martin Methodist, two then top 20 ranked teams.

The month of March will also give the Fire their first conference matchup of the season on March 10th against Webber International at home. The Warriors finished off their shortened 2020 season with an 18-6 record including wins over two top 20 ranked opponents in Olivet Nazarene and Indiana Wesleyan. Conference matchups then come at the Fire in full swing with the next eight double headers being conference matchups. The Fire will not play another non-conference game until April 20th when they take on Florida National which will be followed by three more conference double headers.

In April, the Fire will compete in a total of seven conference matchups including four at home and will end their 2021 regular season in Beaufort, South Carolina on May 1st when they take on the University of South Carolina Beaufort.
