Women's Basketball Improves to 6-0 in TSC Play

LAKELAND, Fla.—Paced by five players notching double-digit point totals, the Southeastern University women's basketball team defeated the Warner Royals 93-43 to pick up their seventh win of the season and remain unbeaten against TSC opponents.

Gabrielle Ozoude set career-highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds in the win, shooting 9-of-14 from the floor and connecting on both of her free-throw attempts.

The Fire outscored Warner 27-9 in the second quarter to take a 44-20 into halftime.

SEU shot 51.5% from the field in the first half and outscored Warner 22-2 in the paint. Ozoude and Haley Howarth led the way with ten points apiece, with Ozoude missing out on a first-half double-double with nine rebounds.

It was more of the same in the second half. The Fire went on a 19-5 to open the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Bekki Kalaydjiev did most of her damage in the final 20 minutes, scoring 11 of her 15 total points in the second half. She also dished out a team-high four assists.

Hecox and Handy were the other two players in double figures as Hecox finished with 13 while Handy tallied ten.

Southeastern used their depth and defense to overwhelm Warner, scoring 36 points off the bench and scoring 42 points off 28 Warner turnovers.

The Fire (7-2, 6-0 TSC) return to action on December 30th for their final game of the calendar year when they are scheduled to host Edward Waters at 2:00 pm.
