Lakeland, Fla.- After nearly a three week pause in competition for the Southeastern University women's basketball team, the Fire took on the St. Thomas Bobcats tonight in a conference matchup and advanced their overall record to 4-2 on the season and remained undefeated in conference play after their 67-36 victory.

The Bobcats got the scoring started in the first quarter but would end the quarter trailing the Fire by a score of 16-10 after the Fire put together a solid last three minutes after a good three pointer by
Marissa Hamilton to break the 8-8 tie and put SEU on an eight point run to end the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Bobcats again got the scoring started but another three pointer by the Fire, this time by
Rebecca Cook, and two made field goals by
Gabrielle Ozoude would put the Fire up by 11 with just over five minutes to play before the half. SEU would go into halftime leading the Bobcats 28-17.

The second half was all Fire as the victory began to slip out of the grasp of the Bobcats.
Haley Howarth and
Madi Hecox both opened up the ten point Fire run in the fird quarter with a good three pointer to advance the Fire lead to 17 with 6:50 remaining in the third quarter. A made field goal and three pointer by
Bekki Kalaydjiev and two good field goals by Ozoude would lend the Fire their largest lead of the night with a score of 45-19 with just over two minutes remaining. The Fire would end the game ahead of the Bobcats by 31 points and a score of 67-36 which was the largest lead of the night.

Turnovers would prove to be both teams kryptonite as both teams combined for a total of 50 turnovers, 26 going to the Fire and 24 assigned to the Bobcats. The Fire were more successful in capitalize on turnovers than their opponents scoring 21 points off of Bobcat turnovers as opposed to the Bobcat's 14 points.

Gabrielle Ozoude led the Fire offense with 15 points on the night as well as a team high eight rebounds while
Bekki Kalaydjiev ended the night with 12 points for the Fire.
Jade Odom registered seven rebounds through 33 minutes of play.

The Fire are back in action on Saturday, December 12
th at home as they take on Florida Memorial University at 2 p.m.
