WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—Southeastern showed the ability at times to keep pace with the top team in The Sun Conference, but couldn't sustain it long enough in a 3-0 loss at Keiser Saturday.
The Fire had a solid start in the first set, battling to tie it at four with a kill and an ace by
Maggie Seagren for the first two points and a block by
Lindsey Davis and
Jordyn Stiger to go along with a Keiser service error. SEU even held a 6-5 lead, getting an ace from
Ashtyn O'Shea.
A
Jessica Hidden kill tied the set again at 7-7, but Keiser's offense was too much to contain as the Seahawks (8-0) got 11 kills during an 18-7 run to finish the set and give KU a 25-14 win.
The second set saw Keiser jump out to a 9-4 advantage, but the Fire answered with an 11-5 run to take a 15-14 lead. SEU had its best offensive output of the match during the second, hitting .135 as a team with 11 kills.
Keiser once again was able to answer, finishing the set with 15 kills against just one error on 30 attempts and an 11-1 run to take a 25-16 win.
In the third, the Seahawks won 13 of the final 16 rallies and hit .481 as a group to close the match with a 25-11 win.
Senior
Emily Boehlein led the offense with seven kills, and added three digs and a block on defense. Libero
