Women's Soccer Hits the Road for Two Conference Matches

LAKELAND, Fla.—After ending Keiser's 28 game win-streak with a 2-1 win in overtime on Friday, the Southeastern University women's soccer team looks to remain unbeaten with two road matches scheduled for this week. The Fire (8-0, 7-0 TSC) travel to face the USCB Sand Sharks on Wednesday, October 28th at 11:00 am before a visit in Lake Wales with Warner University on Saturday, October 31st at 8:00 pm.

In the 2-1 win on Friday, freshman midfielder Makayla Peddycourt tallied her first goal of the season in the 15th minute of the first half to give the Fire an early lead. With the game tied at 1-1 in overtime, junior midfielder Jennifer Luna used a header to find the back of the net off a corner from sophomore Naira Lopez for the win.

Junior goalkeeper Holly Eddins was key in the Fire victory as she recorded nine saves against the Seahawks who entered play fifth in the NAIA in goals scored per game with 5.9.
As a team the Fire are ranked in the top ten of the NAIA in three categories: shutouts (5), goals (35), and assists (24).

Individually, Lopez and forward Aisha Solorzano have formed a troublesome duo for opponents to contain this season. Each have scored ten goals while Lopez leads the NAIA with ten assists and Solorzano leads the team with 20 shots on goal.

USCB enters play this week carrying a 3-2 record and come off a double overtime loss to Ave Maria. Freshman Marcela Shartouny paces the Sand Sharks with three goals and eight shots on goal so far this season. Southeastern took the 3-0 victory when these two squads met earlier this season. Solorzano netted two goals with Lopez adding an assist and goal of her own. The Fire are 8-2 all-time when facing USCB and have won seven straight.

The Warner Royals carry an even record of 4-4 into this week and face Webber International on Wednesday before hosting the Fire on Saturday. Sophomore Maddie Manzke and junior Lexi Garcia are the team leaders in goals, each with three on the season. The last time these teams met was on September 19th when the Fire won 5-0. Lopez scored all five goals within the first 30 minutes of action, tying the program single-game record for goals in a game. Southeastern is 11-2 all-time against the Royals and are winners of seven straight contests.
