Horn's Overtime Goal Rallies Fire Past Royals

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. In what was a defensive battle for over 90 minutes, the Southeastern University men's soccer team found the edge over the Warner University Royals 1-0 in overtime thanks to the foot of graduate midfielder Colin Horn.

Both teams generated their fare share of opportunities in the first half. Although the Fire doubled the Royals' shot total in the first 45 minutes 8-4, SEU and WU were even in shots on frame 3-3. Junior goalkeeper Carlos Curado notched three of his four total saves in the first half.

The Fire locked down defensively in the second half even more so, limiting Warner to just one shot on goal in the final 45 minutes of regulation and to none in the overtime session. Meanwhile, SEU registered 10 shots, including four on target in the second half.

In the extra session, the Fire put their first shot attempt into the back of the net, as Colin Horn netted his fourth goal of the season to send Southeastern back to Lakeland as the victors.

SEU is back in action at the SEU Soccer Complex next Wednesday night, as the Fire host the St. Thomas University Bobcats. Match time is set for 6:00 p.m.
