Fire Host Seahawks in Historic Rivalry

Lakeland, Fla.- The Southeastern University women's soccer team is set to host the 2019 National Champions this week in the Keiser University Seahawks. The match will take place on Friday, October 23rd at 6 p.m. in Lakeland.

The matchup between these two teams has been a historically tough win for both sides. For four consecutive years these two teams have met in the conference championship match with the Fire's only victory coming in 2017 after a 4-2 win which would become the largest margin of victory between these two teams. Every other meeting out of the 10 matchups has been a one goal game ending in favor of the Seahawks with three separate occasions ending in a tie.

The Fire currently cling to a perfect 7-0 record while holding their opponents to only two goals on the season as opposed to their 33. Averaging 4.71 goals per game, the Fire have had 93 shots on goal while holding their competition to only 16 shots on goal all season. Junior goalkeeper Holly Eddins has been a brick wall for the Fire with 14 saves and has allowed only two. Offensively the Fire are led by returning All-American forward Aisha Solorzano who is responsible for a third of the team's goals with 11. A new face for the Fire in sophomore Naira Lopez has also contributed to the team's offensive success with seven goals of her own while holding a team high 9 assists. Freshman Anne-Clara Couturier also has six goals on the season largely thanks to her dominate four goal performance against Webber International.

The Seahawks are also undefeated on the season with a 6-0 record and currently outscore their opponents 40-3 and average 6.67 goals per game. Opponents have only seven shots on goal all season against the Seahawks whereas KU has a total of 91 shots on goal. They also outshoot their competition with 167 shots while allowing only 14 shots all season. Alicia Drott has been the spark plug for the Seahawks with eight goals and six assists.
