LAKELAND, Fla.—After a week with no matches, the Southeastern University men's soccer team is set to hit the pitch again this week with two matches scheduled. The Fire take on Webber International in Babson Park, Fla. on Wednesday, October 14
th at 3:30 pm and return to Lakeland the next day to host Florida Memorial at 7:00 pm.
In the Fire's most recent match they took down Ave Maria 2-0.
Julian Hall and
Colin Horn were the difference against the Gyrenes as Hall netted his fourth goal of the season and assisted on Horn's third goal of the season.
Goalkeeper
Jonathan Wojciki notched his first start of the season for the Fire and earned his first TSC Defensive Player of the Week as he tallied five saves in the shutout win.
Southeastern travels to face a Webber International squad that carries a 3-4 overall record into this week, with a 2-3 record in conference play. The Warriors are looking to build momentum and win their third straight contest after winning their last two matches against Ave Maria and Warner. Senior David Negrin Ruiz leads Webber with five goals and 11 shots on goal while senior goalkeeper Alex Marciulonis leads the team with 22 saves.
The last time these two teams met was on September 16
th when the Fire came away with a 4-1 victory. Hall scored his first two goals of the season in the contest while
Noah Richmond and
Aitor Granero tallied the other two. As a team, the Fire held the Warriors to just eight shots compared to their 18.
Southeastern gets right back on the pitch the next day to host the Florida Memorial Lions who enter this week with a 0-3 record and haven't played a match since September 23
rd. Sophomore Tajay Russell scored the Lion's lone goal of the season in their 5-1 loss to Ave Maria. Junior goalkeeper Keanan Ainge has recorded ten saves at this point in the season. The Fire are looking to even the all-time series as they are currently 5-6 against the Lions.
