LAKELAND, Fla.—The Fire return to action after a 2-3 weekend in Louisville at the NWCA National Duals, placing eighth overall.
Last weekend, SEU had four of their five matches against teams ranked in the top 12. In total, SEU has had 11 of its 18 duals against ranked opponents.
Even with its most difficult dual schedule in program history, the fire are one win away from setting a program record for dual meet victories with 13.
For the 12
th time this season, the Fire will face a ranked team in Life University. It's also the third time the Fire will face a team ranked in the top three this season as the Running Eagles checked in at third in yesterday's rating.
Life put together an impressive run at national duals, defeating No. 4 Cumberlands, No. 3 Campbellsville, and No. 2 Reinhardt to advance to the championship where it lost to top-ranked Grand View. The Running Eagles cruised to its first two wins, defeating Cumberlands 30-16 and Campbellsville 34-6.
A total of 12 Life wrestlers are among the top 20 in their respective weight classes, which includes returning All-American Diallo Matsimella at 197. Keep an eye on true freshman Julian Hernandez, who upset three top 10 wrestlers last weekend, and is now ranked fifth.
The Fire are 0-4 all-time against Life, with all three of the four being competitive matches. The worst margin was by 19 during SEU's inaugural season of 2015-16. The Fire won the first three matches of the day, but lost the next seven, which included two forfeits.
Southeastern faces Keiser for the second time this season. SEU blanked the Seahawks 52-0 in the first dual meet in Keiser history. The Seahawks are hosting a dual for the first time in program history.
Action begins at noon as the Fire face Life. SEU will take on Keiser at approximately 3:30. The matches will be streamed by
