Men's Soccer Set to Kick-Off Conference Play

LAKELAND, Fla. – After a light week in which they only played Rollins College in a scrimmage, the No. 17 Fire are set to open conference play this week. Southeastern will square off against Webber International on Wednesday before taking on No. 18 St. Thomas on Saturday.

COMING IN HOT:
  • The Fire enter play this week coming in hot winning their past three matches by a combined score of 13-3.
  • Graduate Jake Van Der Luit has come on of late, accounting for eight of the 13 goals scored over the past three victories.
  • Southeastern has not allowed a goal to opponents since the 32nd minute in their match against Talladega on September 12th.
ALL-TIME:
  • Southeastern has taken the past four matchups against Webber, winning last year's contest 2-1. Members of this year's team played a key role as senior Craig Barker tallied an assist and sophomore Julian Hall netted a goal.
  • Southeastern is attempting to turn the tides against St. Thomas, dropping their last three matchups. In last year's contest, senior Craig Barker scored the lone goal for the Fire in a 3-1 loss.
THE WARRIORS:
  • Webber is 5-1 coming into Wednesday's match riding a two-game winning streak after taking down TSC members Warner and Ave Maria.
  • Junior David Negrin Ruiz leads the way for the Warriors, accounting for three goals so far this year. Sophomore Mateo Fernandez Sassoni leads Webber and is ranked 16th in the NAIA in assists with five.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Felipe Freiria leads Webber in saves with 32.
THE BOBCATS:
  • St. Thomas is currently ranked 18th with a 5-0 record looking for their second straight win against a ranked opponent, previously defeating No. 9 Georgia Gwinnett.
  • Junior Mads Rismoen is the goal leader for the Bobcats, totaling four through five games this year. Senior Pablo Gil leads St. Thomas in assists with two, and played a key role in their upset win over Georgia Gwinnett, scoring two goals and assisting another.
