Fire Look to Continue Hot Streak at Home

Women's Soccer Hosts Brewton-Parker this Weekend

LAKELAND, Fla.- After a successful road trip, the No. 3 Southeastern University women's soccer team returns to Lakeland this weekend for a match against the Brewton-Parker College Barons. SEU went 2-0 on its recent visit to Truett McConnell and Columbia International, defeating TMU 6-1 and CIU 5-0.

FIRE FOCUS:
-Southeastern is currently riding a four-match win streak. During that stretch, SEU has outscored opposing sides 18-1.
-Senior forward Uchenna Kanu has re-asserted herself as one of the most dominant scorers in the country, totaling eight goals and three assists over her last three outings, including back-to back hat tricks versus Truett McConnell and Columbia International.
-Kanu earned distinction as The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts last week. This marked the 21st time in her collegiate career she received the honor.
-Graduate forward Isamar Duran earned TSC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after anchoring an SEU back line that shut out a No. 15 Grace team who had totaled 15 goals through their first four contests.
-As a defensive unit, the Fire did not surrender a single shot to the CIU Rams in their most recent match.
-Sophomore goalkeeper Holly Eddins has recorded three full-90 shutouts through her first five outings in goal.

 
FIRE FIRST:
-Although the two teams scrimmaged last season, this marks the first time the Fire and the Barons have met in a countable game.
-The two teams were scheduled to play back in 2004, but the game was canceled.

 
THE BARONS:
-Brewton-Parker is 1-2 on the season after a 6-6-5 2018 campaign under then first-year head coach Prince Borde.
-The Barons earned their lone win in a 1-0 effort over Ave Maria, with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Georgia Southwestern State their most recent result.
-BPC returned their leading goal-scorer from last season junior midfielder Mackenzie Stewart, who netted seven goals last season. However, Stewart has yet to find the back of the net in 2019.
-Sophomore defender Jordan Hall has scored the lone Brewton-Parker goal this season.
-Sophomore goalkeeper and Kissimmee native Maygan La is 13-17 in save opportunities this season.
