LAKELAND, Fla— The Fire softball team is slated to battle with a pair of Polk County rivals in monumental conference matchups this week. Southeastern will travel to Webber International on Thursday before returning home to meet Warner on Saturday.

The Fire:
- SEU saw its four-game win streak snapped after dropping the final game of a doubleheader with Thomas on Saturday. The Fire now sit tied for fifth place in the conference standings.
- The split against Thomas marked the fifth time this year and the third time in conference play that Southeastern has split a two-game set. In all five occurrences, SEU has won the first competition and has lost the latter.
- Pitching has been consistent for the Fire all year long. Southeastern currently holds the second-best ERA in the conference behind Warner (2.12), while also ranking second in opposing batting average (.221).
- The Fire pitching staff has fanned a total of 258 batters on the season, which leads the nation. No other Sun Conference team has more than 140 strikeouts so far.
The Warriors:
- Webber sits tied for first in the conference standings with an 8-4 record in league play thanks to a 4-2 win over Coastal Georgia.
- Emma Maitland captains the pitching staff, which ranks 30th in the nation in opponent batting average (.241) and 33rd in ERA (2.45). Maitland lands 23rd in the NAIA in ERA (1.14) and hits allowed per nine innings (4.66), while surrendering a batting average of .186 to opposition.
- Mary-Margaret Maggard leads the Webber offense at the dish. Maggard leads the team in hits (35), home runs (5), RBIs (26) and total bases (64). The sophomore also boasts a .407 batting average.
- Earlier this season the Warriors took both contests of a doubleheader from the Fire. Webber edged Southeastern 2-0 in eight innings before taking game two by a score of 1-0.

The Royals:
- Warner had its three-game win streak snapped in its last competition, a 9-1 defeat to USCB.
- The Royals rank in the top 15 in the country in ERA (2.00) and opponent batting average (.220). Three Warner pitchers have sub-2.00 ERAs with winning records, led by Brooke Olinger who boasts a 1.68 ERA and is 7-3.
- Ashton Owen leads both the Royals and The Sun Conference in batting average with a .467 mark. The freshman has reach base in 10 straight contests, recording multiple hits in five of the games.
- The Fire and the Royals each grabbed a game from their doubleheader set in Lake Wales earlier this season. SEU notched a 4-2 victory in game one thanks to a pair of runs in the seventh before Warner was able to avenge the defeat with a 8-0 win.
