LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire's men's tennis team unfortunately lost their last home matches of the season against No. 22 College of Coastal Georgia 5-4.
Southeastern started off the day strong, going undefeated in doubles play.
Lucca Marcheschi and
Santiago Haas earned a 9-7 victory for the Fire, beating CCGA's best. The No. 2 duo,
Felipe Barbosa and
Thomas Ortega beat Mariners foes 8-6.
Hugo Pires and
Enrique Martinez were successful at No. 3 winning 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 7-4.
Sadly, SEU couldn't continue their momentum in singles play, conceding five of the six games.
Haas was the only player on the day to win both competitions for the Fire. At No. 3, Haas defeated his opponent in two sets, winning the first 6-0 and second 6-3.
The Fire travel to Babson Park for the last game of the regular season, as they take on Webber International at 1:00 p.m.
