Softball Faces Four during Busy Week

LAKELAND, Fla.—Coming off of a doubleheader with RV Grand View University on Monday, the Fire will take on a pair of conference foes and travel to Clermont for the third time this season to battle another two opponents.
 
SERIES INFO:

The Fire:
  • Despite outscoring teams 150-101 on the year so far, the Fire have had an up-and-down season and have dropped seven of their last 10 contests.
  • Southeastern's pitching has been above par throughout the season, with Ashley Appell, Hannah Bodenhorn and Cheyenne Benson-Ross posting 1.25, 2.11 and 3.77 ERAs, respectively. Appell is only allowing opposing batters to hit .176 against her, while Bodenhorn leads the team with 89 Ks and Benson-Ross has registered a 5-2 record.
  • SEU has six different players who have at least 20 hits and six with double-digit RBI totals. Haleigh Harrell and Bailee Moll each have 28 hits to lead Southeastern.
 
The Mariners:
  • Coastal Georgia has had a roller coaster year so far. After starting 7-0, the Mariners dropped their next seven contests. Since that point, CCGA is 6-3 and has won five of its last six.
  • The Mariners have jumped on opposition early in contests, outscoring their competition 33-8 in the opening frame alone.
  • Paige Alt has been a versatile tool for CCGA thus far, both in the pitching circle and at the plate. The junior has posted an 8-6 record and has won each of her last three pitching appearances, while also batting .360 with a team-high 25 hits.

The Cardinals
  • In their most recent competitions, the Cardinals dropped a doubleheader against Sun Conference opponents Keiser before taking games against another TSC team in Ave Maria.
  • Concordia spreads its production throughout the lineup, as the Cardinals have five players batting .400 or better despite only having two players with double-digit hits through 14 games played.
  • Eight players have triples for the Cardinals, led by Tyfanni Bryan with three in six games played on the season. Melanie Richardson, ranks 14th in the nation in ERA (0.76), leads CUAA in the circle. Richardson also ranks sixth in total runs given up (2).

The Golden Eagles
  • Minnesota Crookston, who sits at 8-11 on the year, has yet to string together two wins this season. This may be attributed to a lack of offense, as the Golden Eagles have been shutout five times in their 19 games.
  • Offensively, UM Crookston is led by Malia Pula. The junior leads the team in both total hits (22) and RBI (16)., while boasting a .349 batting average.
  • In the circle, Taylor Graven holds an impressive 1.96 ERA and a 4-1 overall record. Graven has notched a pair of saves on the season and has fanned 32 opposing batters.

The Bobcats
  • The Bobcats have had a phenomenal start to their season, rattling off 16 victories in 22 attempts, including an eight-game winning streak. Three of the team's six losses have been by a single run.
  • Melody Grafals captains St. Thomas in nearly every offensive category. The senior catcher is the squad's leader in hits (29), RBI (17) and total bases (41). Grafals has also batted a team-high .426 with a .603 slugging percentage and the Bobcats' only two longballs of the year.
  • Pitchers Emily Santos and Kaitlin Spalding have been spectacular in the circle, combining for eight wins out of their 10 decisions. Santos has posted a 1.26 ERA, while Spalding has a 1.35 ERA.
