LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire women's tennis team celebrated their tenth win of the season today, after defeating Missouri Baptist University 7-2. The last time the Fire had a double-digit winning record was in the year of 2012.
There were two fire players who had their 2019 season debut against the Spartans, both seniors
Michelle Doan and
Nicole Backherms contributed to SEU's victory this afternoon.
Beatrice Letizia and
Priscila Baptista earned a win for the Fire at No. 1 singles, beating the Spartans best 8-1. The No. 2 duo,
Sharienne Ricardo and
Angelique Myrtil beat MBU foes 8-3 respectively.
In singles competition, SEU dominated their competition, winning five of the six matches. The one loss coming from an 8-point game pro set.
Southeastern return to the courts on Friday the 15
th as they go on the road to USTA National Campus – Orlando (Fla.) to take on RV Southwestern College (Kan.). The matches are set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
