MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—The Fire women's tennis team has won 25 of 26 possible points to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2008.
Southeastern cruised to a 9-0 win over St. Thomas Wednesday night to improve to 2-0 in Sun Conference play.
The Fire won the doubles matches 8-4, 8-2, and 8-1, and won five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
Sharienne Ricardo battled back from a 6-4 first set loss to win 6-1 in the second, then came away with a 12-10 win in the tiebreaker. Ricardo also teamed with
Beatrice Letizia to win at No. 1 Doubles.
Between wins at No. 3 Doubles and No. 6 Singles,
Mia Dunagan dropped just two games, pairing with
Priscila Baptista to win 8-1 in doubles play, and winning 6-0, 6-1 in singles.
The Fire will host 11
th-ranked SCAD Savannah on February 16
th.
