Box Score ORANGE BEACH, Ala.—Southeastern dropped a 2-1 game to Keiser for the third time this season, dropping the NAIA National Semifinal by a goal to the Seahawks.
The Fire ended its season with a 19-5 overall record.
On its third shot of the game, Keiser got its first goal by Larissa Webber in the 13
th minute of play to take the early lead.
Southeastern answered in the 22
nd minute when
Uchenna Kanu took a shot from the left wing was saved, but the rebound ended up on the waiting toes of
Yulie Lopez, who rolled the ball into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the tournament.
With one game remaining, Lopez is the tournament co-leader in goals. Kanu's assist was her fourth of the tournament, which is the most.
Less than two minutes after subbing in, Ebba Gustafsson picked up her third goal of the season with 2:27 left in the half.
"Obviously we're disappointed since we had the goal to win the national championship here, but I'm super proud of our group," said coach
Randy Belli. "They persevered and fought through a lot to get here and have elevated our program so much, especially our seniors."
In the second half, the Fire had two shots on goal with Kanu and Lopez each getting one and Keiser keeper Nina Haeberlin making saves on both.
Keiser (23-1) outshot the Fire 15-9 and had nine shots on goal to SEU's five. The Seahawks advance to tomorrow's championship against No. 12 Marian.
