Women's Soccer To Face Keiser in NAIA Semifinal Match

Fire and Seahawks Represent Sun Conference in NAIA Final Four

ORANGE BEACH, Ala.- For the second-straight season, the Southeastern University women's soccer team will compete in the NAIA National Championship Semifinals. Thanks to a goal in the 96th minute from senior forward Uchenna Kanu, the No. 6 Seed Fire defeated the No. 3 Seed University of Northwestern Ohio Racers 2-1 in an overtime thriller to become one of the final four teams remaining in the field. Southeastern will face a very familiar face in the National Semifinals, as the Fire will face off against Sun Conference rival No. 2 Seed Keiser for a third time this season.

FIRE FOCUS:
  • The Southeastern women's soccer team is the first SEU athletic program to ever appear in two NAIA national semifinals.
  • Kanu's first goal against UNOH set a new NAIA record for Career Points. The Abia, Nigeria native now sits at 365 points (157 goals, 51 assists) in her collegiate career.
  • The goal in extra time was Kanu's NAIA-leading 12th game-winning goal of the season.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

THE SEAHAWKS:
  • Keiser comes into the semifinal match riding a 20-game win streak and looking to get back to the NAIA Final for a second-straight season.
  • The Seahawks have outscored opponents 14-2 in the NAIA National Tournament thus far. Keiser defeated No. 7 Seed Westmont 2-1 to advance to the semifinals.
  • Senior midfielder Filippa Millqvist has netted three of her five season goals in the national tournament, also distributing two assists.
  • Sophmore forward Matilda Ovenberger leads the Seahawks with 21 goals on the season, but has yet to find the back of the net in Orange Beach.
  • Four of the 10 goals senior goalkeeper Nina Haeberlin has conceded this season have occurred in her last five games in goal.
