LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern lost all three of its duals on Saturday during the annual Fire Duals, which saw four Top 20 teams competing on three mats.
The Fire (6-3) started the day with No. 8 Cumberlands, and led 7-6after four matches with
Isaac Crowell defeating No. 16 Chandler Akins, 7-2 and
Andreus Bond picking up a 10-1 major over No. 19 Chasen Brown.
A tech fall by No. 3 Tres Leon at 157 turned the tide for the Patriots. UC also picked up two pins and a forfeit to widen the margin.
Against No. 17 Indiana Tech, the Fire got decisions in the first two matches with
Jaaziel Santana and
Olson Delisca to get the Fire out to a 6-0 lead. The mood changed after Indiana Tech won by injury at 141 to tie the match, and followed up with a major at 156.
Stephen Kelle tried to get the Fire going with a 21-10 major decision of his own, but in the last four matches, the Fire gave up a forfeit, a pin, and two decisions to drop the match 31-10.
Second-ranked Reinhardt had few problems in a 37-4 victory in the final match of the day, conceding a major at 133 to
Olson Delisca for SEU's lone victory in the match. The Eagles won two forfeits, and had two tech fall victories.
The Fire return to action December 15
th in Arizona for the Cascade Duals.
