WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- In an absolute back-and-forth battle in rainy conditions, the No. 4 Southeastern University women's soccer team fell to the No. 1 Keiser University Seahawks 2-1 in The Sun Conference Tournament Final.
"Any time two two-five teams play it has more of a National Championship Final feel than a conference tournament final feel," shared SEU head coach
Randy Belli. "I am proud of our girls for stepping up to the physicality of the match and putting forth a strong effort."
The Seahawks jumped out to a 1-0 advantage early, as Larissa Weber netted a goal in the 13
th minute.
The Fire trailed 1-0 heading into the half.
SEU came out of the half with extreme physical intensity, dictating much of the possession throughout the start of the second half.
The Southeastern tenacity paid off in the 75
th minute, as senior forward
Uchenna Kanu netted her 38
th goal of the season off a well-placed cross by senior midfielder
Bania Duran. The assist was Duran's seventh of the season.
The Seahawks answered in the 76
th minute to retake the lead at 2-1, as Caroline Jensen found the back of the net.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Holly Eddins recorded four saves in net.
