LAKELAND, Fla.—After starting their season 1-1 by splitting two games at the Chick-Fil-A Classic hosted by Bethel University, the Southeastern University men's basketball team will host St. Thomas in their home opener on Saturday.

Offense was a-plenty in the season opening tournament for the Fire as they scored 94 points in their win over Cumberland and 93 points in the loss to Bethel. Senior transfer Blake Morrow impressed in his debut for Southeastern as he scored 69 points over two games in the Chick-Fila-A Classic. Morrow is currently ranked 1st in Division II NAIA with 34.5 PPG and 4th in 3-PT per game with 4.5. Fellow newcomer Karl Jeanty stood out with his performance over the weekend. He averaged nine rebounds per game and three offensive rebounds per game placing him 36th and 39th in those categories.
Collectively, the Fire rank among the top teams in the NAIA in scoring offense per game after two games as they average 93.5 point per contest, ranking them 13th. Southeastern is also ranked 21st in field goal percentage after shooting 50.4% through two games this season.
For St. Thomas, they were victorious in their season opening game against Point Park. The Bobcats rarely missed a shot in their 89-67 win, shooting 61% from the field and 53% from behind the arc. Senior guard Justin Brown led the Bobcat attack with 26 points and converted on 63.6% of his shots. He also found his teammates for open shots that led to five assists for Brown, joining senior Ahmad Gilbert and junior Antoine Joe who also had five assists.
The Fire swept St. Thomas in two meetings last year. In the last home meeting, Southeastern won 81-65 with help from guard Jeremy Oppenheimer who totaled 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists in the win.
