Women's Soccer Hosts Johnson & Wales in TSC Semifinal Match

LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 4 Southeastern University women's soccer team enters The Sun Conference Tournament field for the sixth consecutive season and looks to advance to the tournament final for a fourth-straight year. The second-seeded Fire host the third-seeded Johnson & Wales University Wildcats Tuesday evening for a spot in The Sun Conference Tournament Final.

FIRE FOCUS:
  • The Fire finished the regular season 9-1 in Sun Conference play, outscoring TSC opponents 55-5 on the year.
  • Senior forward Uchenna Kanu became the NAIA All-Time Career Leader in Goals Scored with her first tally against USCB on November 2 and currently sits at 149 career goals.
  • Kanu has netted 10 goals and registered six assists over her last five outings.
  • Senior midfielder Bania Duran has also been steady this season for the Fire. Duran has scored seven goals and recorded three assists over her last five games played.
  • Kanu and Duran were joined on the First Team All-Sun Conference by graduate center back Isamar Duran and junior forward Aisha Solorzano.
  • Isamar Duran has eight assists this season from the center back position while Solorzano has scored seven goals while clinching her third-straight season with 10 or more assists, currently sitting at 11 helpers.

  • Southeastern is 9-2-1 versus Johnson & Wales all-time, having competed against the Wildcats each season since the Fire joined the NAIA in 2009.
  • The Fire have outscored the Wildcats 48-10 and shut out JWU five times in those matches.
  • The most goals SEU has scored against JWU was 10 last season in The Sun Conference Tournament Semifinal.
  • Southeastern has not lost to Johnson & Wales since a 1-0 defeat on 10/3/15.

THE WILDCATS:
  • Johnson & Wales advanced past the TSC Quarterfinals in dramatic fashion, as junior forward Savannah Jackson netted a golden goal with two seconds remaining in the first overtime session to earn JWU a 3-2 win over Thomas. Jackson netted all three goals for the Wildcats
  • The Wildcats' offensive attack relies almost entirely on the shoulders of Jackson. The 2019 Sun Conference Player of the Year has scored 44 goals on the season (2nd in the NAIA), which accounts for 75.9% (44-58) of Johnson & Wales' season goals scored.
  • Senior defender Tyler Einsmann leads JWU with 10 assists on the year.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Denise Mendoza is averaging 8.6 saves per contest over her last five games, but is also surrendering two goals per game during that stretch.
