Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla.—The Southeastern University volleyball team went on the road to sweep Webber International 25-12, 25-19, 25-23. The win moves the Fire to 15-6 on the season, with a 7-3 record in conference play.
The Fire would get out to quick start, jumping on Webber 11-2 leading to a 25-12 first set victory. Nine errors by Webber contributed to the fast start from Southeastern. Senior Emily Kalmink filled the stat sheet in the set, notching three kills and three blocks. Kalmink ended the night leading the Fire in kills (14) and blocks (7).
Southeastern would start fast again in the second set, quickly leading 7-2. Sarah Castillo played a huge role in this set as she would assist on the first 11 Fire kills. The senior would end up totaling 35 assists on this night. The Fire tallied their best hitting percentage of the night in the second set, hitting .250. Southeastern spread out the attack as five Fire attackers notched at least 2 kills in the second set alone.
The Warriors wouldn't make it easy for Southeastern as they pushed the Fire the entirety of the third set. Leading 21-15, the Fire quickly found themselves leading by only one before a kill by junior Hannah Kaszubowski finished the match for the Fire.
Freshmen Katie Chillura and Baylee Warneke were key for the Fire as they both had 14 digs, while Chillura also had five aces and Warneke would total five kills.
The Fire are set to return to action Saturday October 19th when they host St. Thomas at 2 p.m.
