Men's Basketball Battles WIU Warriors

Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – On Saturday evening, No. 11 Southeastern University's (17-4, 10-1 TSC) men's basketball team took on the Webber International Warriors (10-12, 2-9 TSC). In a toe-to-toe match, the Fire came out on top, defeating the Warrior's 84-80.
 
Moody led the Fire tonight, scoring 18 points for the team, getting five rebounds and four assists. There were five SEU players who scored double-digit points in tonight's game.
 
Jeremy Oppenheimer and Taylor Breck were also key players for the Fire, having a collect combination of 15 rebounds.
 
In the beginning of first half, the Warriors got off to a good start. Tommie Luke and Austin Evans set the tone for the Warriors. However, the Fire fought back and tied up the score within the first five minutes of the game.
 
It was a head-to-head game, having three ties and eight lead changes within the first half. But with 3:30 left to go, Webber International scored 12 points. And going into the half, the Warriors were up 40-33 against the Fire.
 
The Warriors had the advantage over the Fire for almost 27 minutes of the game, but at the 13 minute mark in the second half, the Fire answered back and went on a huge 24-5 run that turned their nine-point deficit into a ten-point advantage.
 
With 6:30 left in the game, the score was 74-64. However, now it was the Warriors turn to try to make up some ground. Within two minutes left, WIU were on a seven-point run, making it only a three-point game.
 
Then, with two minutes left in the game,  Webber was only down by one-point. The Warriors not giving up, came back to tie the game 78-78 with 1:42 on the clock.
 
With just one minute to go, the Fire's offense took control and ended the game for Southeastern to be on top.
 
The Fire will be back at the Furnace on Thursday night, as they host Keiser University at 7:30 p.m.
