After losing to Bethel University on Saturday, the Fire's record stands at 2-2, but this weekend, the Fire enter conference play, and will meet the undefeated No. 22 Webber International Warriors in Winter Haven for the their first conference game of the year.
The Fire and the Warriors have always feuded on the gridiron, ever since Webber defeated SEU in the Fire's inaugural season in 2014 and cost them a chance at the Conference title. Since then, in the last three seasons, the Fire have retaliated with a vengeance and beaten the Warriors in every contest. Now that the Fire team is fresh and new, the Warriors are hoping for some payback.
Running back Bryan Bell leads the team run game with 269 yards, averaging roughly 8.2 yards a carry, and three touchdowns.Tyrell Williams is close behind, with 247 yards and two touchdowns to his name. Passing and receiving, Antwain Adams leads the team with 303 positive yards, averaging 12.2 yards a play, and scoring four touchdowns. Quarterback Ryder Litten has started in all four of the Fire's games and has thrown the ball for 600 yards, throwing six touchdown passes this season.
On the opposite side of the ball, seniors Blade Denmark and Tyson Key lead the Fire defense, Denmark with three sacks totaling 18 yards, and Key with 13 unassisted tackles, which has helped him become ranked 17th in the NAIA for tackles per game.
Webber has enjoyed a perfect season so far, holding all of their opponents to no more than 14 points. Linebacker Aaron Givens has proven himself a fierce defender, with 33 total tackles, and six sacks for 40 yards lost. Givens is ranked fifth in the NAIA for both total sacks and sacks per game.
Offensively, the Warriors have consistently outscored their opponents by a healthy margin. Running back Davonte Williams and quarterback Brady Ooten are the Warrior's top offensive players; Williams has 323 yards and four touchdowns, and Ooten has thrown for over 350 and had three touchdown passes.
Game time is at 7:30 PM, at Denison Stadium in WInter Haven.
