CINCINNATI, Ohio—A total team effort helped Southeastern pick up a 58-14 win over Cincinnati Christian.
The ground game set the tone with
Tyrell Williams rushing for 87 yards, and
Bryan Bell going for 77 yards on just two carries, and breaking a 33-yard touchdown run with 9:13 left in the second quarter. Bell also took a 49-yard pass from
Ryder Litten for the game's first score.
"Very early, our run game got things going for us," said coach
Keith Barefield. "It was good to have
Bryan Bell back, and had a couple electrifying runs, and
Tyrell Williams and
Keland White had good days to help carry us."
Litten also found
Antwain Adams for an 18-yard strike on the final play of the first quarter. He finished the day 10-of-17 for 168 yards with two TD strikes.
Adams also scored on a 71-yard pass from
Elijah Oltean in the third quarter, finishing with five catches for 95 yards.
Oltean also connected with
Maurice Anglin for a 43-yard TD pass, and finished 3-of-4 for 118 yards, with two of his completions going for scores.
Cooper Jones also fired a touchdown pass, finding
Evan Beal with a back-shoulder throw with 4:37 to play.
Kicker
David Larson supplemented the scoring, connecting on field goals of 40, 29, and 32 yards.
The Fire defense held CCU to just 199 total yards, and an average of 3.2 yards per play, while the Fire averaged just north of nine yards per snap.
Southeastern returns to action next Saturday at home against current No. 19 Bethel (Tenn.).
"We have to get better our effort today was good, but I don't think it was good enough to beat a team like Bethel," said Barefield. "They'll be ready for whatever we throw at them."
