Men's Soccer Defeat the Knights at Home

Home Opener ends in Shutout

The Fire struck hard in tonight's game against the Middle Georgia State University Knights, beating the Knights in a shutout 2-0 victory. This brings the Fire's season record to 3 wins and 1 loss.

Southeastern pressed the attack for the entire duration of the game. They had 14 shots on goal, nearly three times the amount of attempts that the Knights had at 5. "Our team did a great job of really running the tempo and rhythm of the game," said head coach Clay Roberts.

Jake Van Der Luit scored right after the fifteen minute mark on a swift strike past the goalie. Julian Hall's goal came in the emerging minutes of the second half, at 47:54. Both goals were assisted by senior forward Bruno Henrique.

Goalkeeper Jorge Navarrete stopped four shots from scoring, keeping the Knights from getting on the board.

"Our players shaped out and we're really in sync as far as our tactics," said Roberts.

The Fire will play Missouri Baptist University at home on September 3rd, at 1pm.
