LAKELAND, Fla.—The Fire wrestling team will take on fellow Mid-South Conference member, Brewton Parker College, Thursday night in the Fire Pit.
No. 8 Southeastern will face off with Brewton Parker after going 1-2 in their most recent duals in Kentucky. The Fire, who are currently 9-7 (3-3 MSC), have picked up three wins over ranked opponents on the season while also notching a victory against RV Warner Pacific.
The Barons have struggled to find consistency so far this year, going 1-7 in their first eight duals. After dropping their first six, Brewton Parker collected its sole victory of the season with a 30-19 win over Truett McConnell on January 23
rd.
A great deal of attention should be placed on the 125-pound bout, where No. 5
Olson Delisca will wrestle No. 13 Lucas Nelson in the only matchup featuring two nationally-ranked opponents. The two-time Mid-South Wrestler of the Week, Delisca, who is 10-1 individually, should be tested by the freshman from Kingsland, Georgia in an entertaining match.
Three other ranked Fire wrestlers will take the mat on Thursday as
Ethan Owen (No. 8 at 133),
Jake Watters (No. 13 at 141), and
Jason Davis (No. 17 at 184) are all slated to compete.
On a night that will feature a high school matchup before the college competition, Lake Highland Prep will battle with Fleming Island High School.
Lake Highland Prep will wrestle Fleming Island at 6 p.m. followed by the Southeastern-Brewton Parker bout at 7:30 p.m.
