Football Warren Johnson

Game Day: Southeastern (6-3) vs Faulkner (4-5)

Fire take on Eagles in the Final Game of the Regular Season

It's November, and the end of football regular season is here. It's been five years since the program's inception, and this year marks the first where the Fire have not had the Bonny Boys on the roster. The fresh, new team had a rough patch during their first few games, but since then have rallied to be in contention for the Mid-South Conference championship.

Running back Bryan Bell has been named the Mid-South COnference Offensive player of the week for the third week this season. is at the forefront of the Fire run game, playing in eight games with 874 yards and seven touchdowns. Bell is also ranked #1 in the Mid-South Conference in average yards per game.

Wide receiver Antwain Adams is also ranked #1 in the Mid-South for average yards receiving per game, with 725 yards and 7 touchdowns. Lasts week's game against Keiser proved to be Adams' third-most productive game this season.

Freshman quarterback Cooper Jones has started the last two games, helping to win their last two home appearances, and has put up numbers of 292 yards and two touchdowns since the Homecoming game versus Edward Waters.

The defense this year has steadily grown in ability, and are now currently ranked #2 in the Mid-South conference in total defense per game on average.

Linebacker Lamont Trent, is still the undisputed leader in tackles on the Fire, with 93 total tackles. He has had over ten tackles in more than half of the games he has started in, and he is currently ranked number one in the Mid-South in tackles per game.

Defensive lineman Mike Mitchell has climbed high in the Mid-South rankings this year. He is currently first in tackles for loss in conference games with eleven, and second for sacks in conference games with six. Mitchell had a productive game last week versus Keiser, flattening several Seahawks into the turf.

The Faulkner Eagles have had a string of misfortune lately, losing four of their last five games, three of them to teams that SEU has beaten. Since the last two meetings between the Eagles and the Fire have resulted in SEU winning, no doubt Faulkner is eager to come out on top.

Justin Lewis and Jamario Dixon are the top ball movers for the Eagles' offense. Lewis has rushed for 428 yards and has scored twice, while Dixon has 323 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

On the Eagles defense, Neiko Robinson has the highest tackle count, with 33 solo and 16 assisted, for a total of 49. Daylon Fox and Lincoln Tulimasealii are the second and third leading tacklers, Fox with 46, and Tulimasealii with 43

At halftime, Southeastern will be dedicating a new honorary POW/MIA chair, in honor of the men and women in the U.S. armed forces who have been taken prisoner in combat or are missing in action.

Game time is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 8th.
