Southeastern Maintains Perfect Season with win against Johnson & Wales

Fire beat Wildcats in Conference Matchup

The Fire showed up in a commanding way in their match against Johnson & Wales University, winning 90-58.

 

Elsa Paulsson-Glantz was the top scorer, with 24 points in 32 minutes. She also went 8-9 from the charity stripe, had eight rebounds, and six assists.

 

Southeastern took an early lead, scoring seven points in a minute and a half and not allowing the Wildcats to get on the board until nearly the two minute mark. Johnson & Wales fought to close the gap and managed end the period trailing by only four points, with the score 24-20 after ten minutes of play.

 

The second quarter started off slowly until Paulsson-Glantz made two free throws at 7:21 and ignited the offensive battle that continued until halftime.

 

In the third period, the Fire made their move and built a 19 point lead from 8:28 to 6:16. Paulson-Glantz scored six of the 11 points scored during this window of time. The quarter ended with the Wildcats trailing by 30.

 

During the final period, Southeastern's lead never dropped below 23 points, keeping the Wildcats from scoring any points in the final two and half minutes.

 

Jaycee Coe and Emma Karamovic both ended with 16 points towards the Fire total, with Coe adding seven rebounds and Karamovic going 4-9 in three point attempts.

 

As a team, from the free throw line, the Fire put up a tally of 13-16 for 80%.

 

Southeastern plays Keiser University on Dec. 1st at 2 p.m. in West Palm Beach.
