The Fire:
- Southeastern puts its 6-0 record on the line when the Fire face the Wildcats in the Furnace on Thursday night.
- SEU, who has five players averaging at least nine points per game, overcame a 26-point third quarter deficit against No. 19 Taylor last week to capture the competition 73-72 in overtime. The one-point victory marked the first time since 11/11/17 the Fire won a regular season game by less than 14 points.
- Senior transfer Makenzie Cann had 19 of her 23 points in the second half or overtime to lead the Fire comeback versus the Trojans. Cann shot 6-13 (46.2%) from three, while adding five assists and three steals. The Lawrenceburg, Ky. native has averaged 20.5 points in the last two games.
Free Throw Frenzy:
- SEU has made a living by getting to the charity stripe so far this season. The Fire have attempted at least 20 free throws in five of the six contests, while converting on double-digit attempts in as many games.
- When it comes to opposing teams, Southeastern averages more than twice the amount of makes from the line (15.5 to 7.7) while succeeding on more tries (93) than opponents have attempted (83).
The Wildcats:
- Johnson & Wales caps off a six-game road trip with a journey to Lakeland. Over the span, JWU has gone 2-3, with all three losses coming by single digits. Despite the difficult road trip, the Wildcats have won two of their last three competitions, including a 15-point victory over Florida National.
- Tianna Ayulo captains the Wildcats in points, rebounds and steals. The 5'9" forward, who nearly averages a double-double (19.6 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per contest), ranks fifth in the nation in offensive rebounding by grabbing over five offensive boards per competition.
- Ayulo and JoNae Gonzales-Smith have been the top two scorers for the Wildcats in each of the last three games. The duo has combined for 259 of the team's 451 points on the year, including 44 of their 57 in the squad's most recent win over the University of the Virgin Islands.
Previous Meetings:
- Since joining the Sun Conference in 2009, the Fire are 18-1 against the Wildcats and have won the last 17 meetings, with their last loss coming in December of 2009.
- Southeastern has not dropped a competition at home versus JWU, going 10-0 in the ten matchups.
