LAKELAND, Fla.—It will be a busy Thanksgiving week for the Southeastern University men's basketball team, which will participate in four contests over the next seven days.
The week starts on Monday with an exhibition against NCAA Division II Rollins in Winter Park, which is currently 3-0 on the season. Tuesday, the Fire will host NCAA Division III Franklin College, then will head to Tennessee for the NAIA Division II Showcase.
Southeastern is now 3-0 on the year, jumping right into Sun Conference play last week with a 100-93 win at Webber International and an 86-81 win at home against No. 19 Warner. Senior guard
Josiah Barsh put together a phenomenal week, scoring 56 total points and made all 18 of his free throw attempts, and was better than 50% from long range.
The Tars of Rollins are 3-0, coming off a nine-point win over Ave Maria a week ago. The game will not affect SEU's stats or record.
Franklin returns to Lakeland for the first time since the 2013-14 season, and will face the Fire after taking on Florida College Monday night. The Grizzlies are currently 1-1, led by sophomore Sam Gutierrez, who's averaging 19.5 points per game and is shooting 51.7% from the field.
Southeastern will participate in the NAIA Division II Showcase in Kingsport, Tenn. for the fourth consecutive season, and hold a 4-2 overall record at the event.
The Fire will face Rochester, which is receiving votes, and Reinhardt during the stay.
Rochester has dropped three straight following a 3-1 start, however, its last two losses were by three in overtime to No. 7 Cornerstone, and by 11 to fifth-ranked Indiana Tech. The Warriors have six players that average nine points or more per game.
The Eagles sit at 4-3, recording wins of six, one, and three points. Reinhardt is averaging 82.3 points per game, and make almost nine 3-pointers per contest.
