Thomas University proved themselves a challenger today, when they defeated the SEU men's soccer team 5-3.
Jake Van Der Luit struck first for the Fire, scoring in the sixth minute, assisted by Luke Marchesani.
Thomas answered with the next two rallies to take a 2-1 lead at the half.
The Fire's second goal came two and half minutes into the second half, after Craig Barker, assisted by Julian Hall, put it past the goalie.
Unfortunately, the Night Hawks demonstrated a fierce determination to score, spending much of their time on the Fire side of the field and outshooting them 16 to 8. Thomas answered SEU's tying goal with three in the second, their final goal being scored with less than ten minutes to play.
This loss brings the Fire's overall record to 10-3-1.
The Fire will play Ave Maria on the 27th at home. Game time is 2p.m.
