In their eighth shutout victory this season, the Fire defeated the Thomas University Night Hawks two goals to none, in a tense contest that tried the endurance of several players on both sides.
During much of the game, both teams played fierce offense, fighting to keep the ball on their opponent's side of the field. Southeastern's proved much more ferocious though, the team having a total of 22 shots, compared to Thomas' seven.
In the 23rd minute, Summer Rusher scored the first goal for the Fire on a pass from Uchenna Kanu in the box, who in turn had gotten the ball on a pass from Aisha Solorzano. Kanu then scored the second goal with less than ten minutes to play in the second half, again assisted by Solorzano. This marked Kanu's 31st goal this season.
Holly Eddins saved the ball twice during the game, as well as defending against a heart stopping shot that careened off the crossbar and came dangerously close to rolling into the net.
The Fire will play Saint Thomas University on the 13th at 7 pm.
