LAKELAND, Fla. – In what promised to be a thrilling matchup, the Southeastern University men's soccer team had their game versus No. 21 Georgia Gwinnett College cut short due to severe weather in the area.
With just under 30 minutes to go in the first half, junior midfielder
Jonathan Jimenez lifted a nice ball to junior forward
Jake Van Der Luit, who finished the ball for a Fire goal. The game was delayed shortly after the score due to lightning in the area.
The contest was eventually cancelled with no reschedule planned.
The Fire are back in action on Monday for their second game of the SEU Soccer Invitational. SEU will take on Bluefield College. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
