LAKELAND, Fla. - The weather experienced by Hurricane Irma altered the Fire men's soccer team's schedule resulting in a couple of cancellations and postponements.  However, the Fire were able to play a tune-up scrimmage against Rollins College which prepared the team as they aim to capture their first Sun Conference victory of the 2017 season.

Southeastern and Keiser will embark on the first 90 minutes of Sun Conference action for the 2017 season.  The Fire are off to a less than fortunate start dropping their past two contests, one of which in the final minutes of double overtime.  With an injury to one of their leading goal scorers, the Fire will have to lean on other pieces to produce against one of the top teams in the conference every year.

Although Southeastern hit a bump in the road the last two contests, junior midfielder Jonathan Jimenez is one of the cornerstone pieces to the Fire's attack.  The Columbia native has been instrumental in five of the eight goals the Fire obtained this season, scoring one and assisting in four.  Jimenez ranks 15th in all of the NAIA in assists.

The last time the Keiser Seahawks played in a game was some 16 days ago.  Their last match came against #21 Georgia Gwinnett where they suffered a 4-0 loss.  Keiser's attack does not revolve around one individual player.  Instead, five players on the Seahawks' roster netted a goal thus far in the season.

Jake Stanton and Diego Menendez are two Seahawks that are extremely dynamic on the pitch.  Stanton rattled the back of the net in their second game of the year against Spring Arbor.  The sophomore from England has launched eight shots, four of which were on goal.  Menendez, although only finding the back on the net one time this season, was extremely active in the match against Georgia Gwinnett and created a few chances in the box for the Seahawks.
