LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 11 Southeastern University softball team is 12-3 over its last 15 contests. After earning two of three at home versus No. 14 Thomas, SEU has now won four consecutive Sun Conference series. The Fire now embark on the home stretch of the regular season, where they will wrap things up with back to back road series. First up for Southeastern is a trip to Ave Maria to take on the Gyrenes in a pivotal four game set, in which the fourth game will be counted as a non-conference contest.

PIETRZAK ATTACK: Junior
Brandee Pietrzak has been doing her fair share of damage at the plate as of late. The New Carlisle, Ind. native is batting .500 with an on base percentage of .600 over her last 10 games. She most recently turned in a .750 performance at the plate (6-8) with half of her hits going over the fence, five runs batted in, and an OPS of 2.675 versus Thomas. Pietrzak has already bested her career single season high in home runs (5) and currently has marks that would top her single season highs in batting average (.342), slugging percentage (.521), and fielding percentage (.989).
PREVIOUSLY AVE MARIA: The Fire split a doubleheader at home with the Gyrenes last season. SEU took game one by a score of 7-2 before dropping the second game 3-2. Current Southeastern bats hit .242 (8-33) versus the Ave Maria pitching staff last season.
Lindsie Scholwinski tossed 12 innings total in the doubleheader last year with six strikeouts, earning the complete game victory in game one. The Fire lead the all-time series versus the Gyrenes 6-2.
THE GYRENES: Ave Maria has won 10 of its last 11 contests and are right in thick of the battle for the TSC regular season title. The bats have come alive for the Gyrenes, as they rank second in the conference in team batting average (.318) and home runs (26). Senior shortstop Marinna Shadley leads the conference in batting average at .472 (59-125), has scored 39 runs, and is 12-15 on stolen base attempts. However, senior Sadie Mosher is by far the most valuable asset to the Gyrenes. At the plate, Mosher is batting .385 with 12 home runs and has went yard in each of their last three contests. On the mound, she is 14-4 with a 2.02 ERA, 88 punch outs, and is 7-0 in her last seven starts.
