BARTOW, Fla.—Four home runs in the final two innings helped Southeastern pick up its 20
th win of the season with a 9-4 win over St. Francis (Ill.).
Four unearned runs in the top of the seventh gave the Fighting Saints a 4-1 lead over the Fire, but the home team answered back in a big way.
An
Alex Stephens double, gave the Fire second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh when
Mike D'Acunti pulverized a ball well beyond the right field wall to tie the game at three with his fourth homer of the year. Two pitches later, it was
Derek Martin sending a ball over the left field wall for his first homer of the year to regain the lead.
In the eighth,
Gerald Ceballos stepped in with a pinch-hit solo home run—his fourth of the year, over the centerfield wall to make it a two-run game. Four pitches later, it was
De'John Suber picking up his first homer of the season.
Suber finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored, touching home back in the third for the first run of the game on a single by Stephens up the middle.
Another run scored in the eighth on Stephens' second double of the game. Stephens then scored on a wild pitch. He finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Adrian Rivera pitched the first 6.2 innings, giving up five hits, striking out nine, and walking four.
Chris Colletti picked up his first win at SEU, getting the final out of the seventh.
John Jaeger recorded his second save, striking out five of the seven batters he faced.
The Fire will face the Fighting Saints again on Tuesday as part of a split doubleheader at Lake Bonny Park.
