Women’s Basketball Notches 22nd Straight Win

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—A great shooting effort and stifling defensive effort pushed Southeastern to a 84-49 win at Florida Memorial to improve to 22-0 on the season and 14-0 in Sun Conference play.

A double-double effort by senior Christin Strawbridge was the catalyst early on, scoring 12 of her game-high 20 points in the first half of play. Strawbridge was 8-of-13 from the field, and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line.

As a team, the Fire shot 56.9% from the field, knocked down 11 3-pointers, and a perfect 7-of-7 at the free throw line.

At the other end of the floor, the Fire forced 23 turnovers, leading to 26 SEU points.

Despite missing its first four shots of the game, the Fire rallied back with a 9-2 first quarter run to end the first 10 minutes up 17-15.

Over the final 7:21 of the first half, Southeastern went on a 21-4 run, getting three 3-pointers in that span from senior Bailey Hooker, who finished with 17 points, giving the Fire a 45-23 lead at the break.

Alyssa Ramos scored half of her 18 points in the third quarter to help the Fire hold a 71-40 lead after 30 minutes.

The Fire return to action February 16th at home against Johnson and Wales at 7 p.m.
