Mt. Vernon, Ga. – For the second consecutive weekend, the RV Southeastern University baseball team swept a weekend of action in the state of Georgia. The Fire defeated the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears 9-2 and later this evening beat the Brewton-Parker College Barons 13-5 to complete the sweep and improve to 7-0 on the season.
Leadoff man
Luis Diaz continued to dazzle for SEU. The senior shortstop was 6-10 (.600) at the plate with five runs batted in, two triples, and scored five runs on the day. Through the first seven games of the season, Diaz is batting .556 with 13 RBI and having crossed home plate 16 times.
The Fire jumped on the Golden Bears for a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Senior infielder
Alex Stephens singled into center field, scoring Diaz, and scored a run later in the frame himself.
Southeastern is building an early season habit of producing runs right out of the gate. The Fire have outscored opponents 28-4 in the first two frames this season.
SEU used a four run inning in the top of the fourth to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Diaz and Stephens drove home a pair of runs during the sequence. Junior utility man

Nate Harmon earned his second win of the season, going five innings, with two unearned runs, and punching out four.
The Fire found themselves in a closely contested battle with the Barons in the early frames. Brewton Parker answered five runs scored by SEU in the top of the first two innings with three runs scored of their own. Pitoy came in on a fielder's choice hit by Guzman to give the Fire a 6-3 advantage at the end of three.
The game was broken open in the top of the fourth when D'Acunti belted the first pitch he saw over the right field fence for a three run homer.
Senior infielder
Angel Garced went yard on a 1-0 count in the top of the seventh to leadoff a four run burst that capped off the offensive onslaught.
The Fire will look to continue their hot start as they take on Trinity Baptist College next Tuesday for a doubleheader. Game times are set for 4 and 6:30 p.m.
