WALESKA, Ga.—In the final two duals of the 2016-17 wrestling season, Southeastern went 1-1, picking up a 31-13 win at Reinhardt, then a 27-16 loss to No. 7 Lindsey Wilson.
Southeastern trailed the first dual against Reinhardt 13-0 before the Fire rattled off seven straight wins.
Giovanny Bonilla and
Zech Rives came away with major decisions, and
Zach Colgan won by technical fall. The match ended with
Silas Root scoring a fall in overtime at 285.
Southeastern found itself down 12-4 after three matches and came up just short at 149 with
Adrian Hughes losing a 5-4 decision to No. 5 Daniel Leonard. Bonilla was a tough 1-0 loser to No. 1 Cam Tessari at 157.
At 165,
Tim Dinsdale scored a first period pin and Colgan followed with a 4-2 decision, making it 18-13 in favor of the Blue Raiders. Rives then came up with an overtime win, bringing the Fire within two with two matches left. However, the Fire were unable to come up with the needed wins.
Next up will be the East Region Qualifier in Bowling Green, Ky. starting February 18
th.
