Women’s Basketball Routs Seahawks with Historic Performance

LAKELAND, Fla.— The Southeastern women's basketball team easily handled Keiser University 116-48 behind season and program records on Saturday night to improve to 11-0 (4-0 TSC) on the season.

The Fire scored the first nine points of the contest and didn't look back. Fueled by six straight points from Ana Richter, Southeastern took a 25-11 advantage after ten minutes of play.

Southeastern continued to control the contest heading into the break, extending their lead to 24 with stout defense and powerful offense.

The third quarter proved fatal to the Seahawks, as the Fire outscored Keiser 42-12 in the third frame alone. This was largely due to the fact that Southeastern connected on 70% of their shot attempts in the period, while holding Keiser to a mere 23.5% shooting. During the quarter, Richter added 11 more of her game-high 25 points and transfer Jaycee Coe tallied 12 of her 21 points.

Coe ended the day 9-13 from the field, including 3-5 from beyond the arc, while assisting on six buckets and grabbing five boards.

Five Fire players recorded double-digit scoring efforts, including Anissa Toumi, Trisha Jacobs and Emma Karamovic. Jacobs and Karamovic each provided four helpers, as Southeastern continued to pull away over the course of the second half.

Richter didn't miss a single one of her shots in the game, leading the top-ranked shooting team in the NAIA by converting on all ten of her field goal attempts.

Overall, Southeastern dominated the Seahawks with impressive shooting. Their 64.7% shooting matches the highest of the season, while the 116 points scored are the most in any game by a Fire team since joining the Sun Conference.

With the 116-48 victory, the Fire extended their program-best regular season winning streak to 37 games and have not been beaten on their home court in the last 26 home contests, a run spanning over two years.

Southeastern will be back in action when they face NCAA Division I opponent Florida Gulf Coast in an exhibition competition on Tuesday. Tip off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Fort Myers.
